From zero to 140K traders: eight years on one platform

The work came down to three business decisions: renew a complex trading platform without flattening it, shorten time to first value, and rebuild the essential mobile flows. Product analytics guided each step — making the platform more efficient and helping more users reach value and stay.

Context

As the feature set grows, a newcomer gets lost.

CryptoRobotics is a trading and automation platform with a wide range of tools, scenarios and settings. Every year it gained capability — and every year the first hour got harder. The goal was never to simplify the product. It was to keep its depth while making the entrance obvious.

Where it hurt
  • New users could not tell where to begin — the tools were there, the first step was not.
  • Starting a bot meant meeting real money and complex settings on the same screen.
  • After four years the original interface had aged: dense grid, weak hierarchy, blocks that resisted scanning.
  • Almost half of the traffic was already mobile, on flows built for a desktop.
What could not be lost
  • The depth — professionals were using the advanced settings daily.
  • The product foundation: eight years of decisions that had already proven themselves.
  • Trust. This is real money, and every screen has to read as safe.
  • Release pace — the platform could not stop while it was being rebuilt.

Solution 01

Renew the interface. Keep the depth.

Four years after launch, the interface had aged but the product logic had proved itself. We rebuilt hierarchy, feedback and visual language around the existing workflows instead of making professionals relearn the platform.

The analytics dashboard after the redesign — cards with room to breathe, a clear hierarchy and analytics that scan in one pass
The same dashboard before the redesign — a dense flat grid with weak hierarchy and blocks of competing weight
Before

A dense grid, weak hierarchy and equal visual weight made daily checks slow. Every number was present, but nothing led.

After

A clearer hierarchy and one visual language made daily checks fast. Portfolio, balance and account split each gained a clear role.

Trading terminal after the redesign — exchange list, candlestick chart, order book and the smart order panel on one screen
Depth kept, noise removed

The chart leads, the order panel stays within reach, and the exchange list stops competing with both. Professional capability remained intact; only its visual priority changed.

Completed and cancelled order notifications with the order details and a named failure cause
Feedback that prevents support tickets

Success and failure share one structure. When an order fails, the message names the cause at the moment it happens.

Signal bots workspace with active bots, success rate, profitability and signal frequency
Depth became the retention layer

Advanced statistics stay available without competing with the first decision. Newcomers get an entrance; professionals keep the evidence they use every day.

Solution 02

Prove the value before asking for money.

A newcomer no longer starts with an API key and a wall of settings. Right after sign-up, a three-step flow launches a real bot experience on a virtual balance — one safe decision at a time.

Three steps, no real money

Add a demo balance of 10,000 USDT. Choose how much of it the bot may use. Watch it trade. Each step asks one question and explains why it is asking — the advice sits inside the flow, not in a help article somewhere else. The point was never to teach the platform; it was to get a person to a working bot before they decide the product is too complex.

Step 01 — a safe start

A demo balance, labelled plainly as virtual. The fear of the first action is removed before it forms.

Step 02 — one decision

The amount, and nothing else. Advanced settings stay available but stop being the price of entry.

Step 03 — a working result

The bot is already trading. Live statistics do the convincing a settings screen never could.

Solution 03

Half the audience was already on a phone.

Mobile traffic had reached 48% while the flows were still built for a desktop. A shorter registration, security given its own room, and trading and bot monitoring rebuilt for one thumb.

Mobile trading — pair header with high, low and volume, order type tabs, amount with leverage, and the buy action
Trading with a thumb

Order type, amount and leverage stack in the order the decision is actually made, with the action pinned where the thumb already rests.

Mobile bot monitoring — total trades donut, success and failure split, profit by strategy and the open orders list
Checking a bot in ten seconds

The donut answers the only question a trader has on the move — is it working — before the detail arrives underneath.

Result

What eight years produced.

A platform that kept its depth for professionals and stopped losing newcomers at the door — with the entrance, the phone and the monetisation each measurably better than where they started.

For the business

Conversion to subscription up, support load on automated tools down, and a mobile audience large enough to plan around rather than accommodate.

For new users

A first working bot within minutes of signing up, on a virtual balance — the product proves itself before it asks for money.

For the team

One visual language across a platform that had grown for years, so new features stop arriving in whatever style their sprint happened to have.
